If you like your fantasy a little bit weird, why not try...
Troika! is a nifty little game and you can actually get it entirely for free online: https://www.troikarpg.com/ Its rules are inspired by the classic Fighting Fantasy gamebook series, which were a formative RPG experience for me. Its science-fantasy setting is implied rather than stated. There are golden barges which traverse the hump-backed sky, and a city called Troika, and all sorts of strange and wonderful beings which dwell there... but all the details are for you to fill in. There's a wonderfully mundane yet strange adventure included too, about taking the elevator or the stairs to a rooftop party, which is full of strangeness and generous amounts of plot hooks for future gaming.
Character Creation: Extremely simple. There are d66 character archetypes, and you can either roll or pick one that you like. I decided to roll and wound up with an Epopt, which is a sort of itinerant seer. I roll 1d3+3 for my Skill (general capability at doing things), 2d6+12 for my Stamina (hit points) and 1d6+6 for my Luck (everything that's outside of my control). I wound up with a measly 4 skill, but a healthy 21 stamina and 11 luck. I then copy down my skills, my equipment, and my fortune-telling special ability, fill in the damage from my weapons... and that's it, I'm done. Finally, I decided to name my character Anaximander, after the Greek philosopher.
By the way, I do not have a source for the awesome character sheet, which I discovered amongst my convention supplies for a game that I was offering to run at a retro event once. In my experience, people who haven't done an RPG before want to do D&D because they've heard of it, and if they've done D&D then they want to try Call of Cthulhu. Anything else is a hard sell.
Final Thoughts: This is another 'one day' game. I have a copy of the awesome sandbox adventure Ultraviolet Wastelands and will run in with Troika... one day. Troika is pure vibes, and they're good ones. I've heard it described as 'if Terry Pratchett did drugs and wrote an RPG.' Cool stuff.
